Not a banner start to the day...between the kink that worked its way into my right hip at mile 5 (of 6) and setting up the wrong conference room for an important meeting with the Italians, I think I should just go back to bed.
When I rolled off the couch (yes, there was another Law and Order: SVU marathon) at 4:45 AM for my run, I stubbed my toe on the coffee table. Muttering an expletive under my breath, I sleepily dressed for my run, and it wasn't till I reached S. Courthouse Road that I realized I had forgotten my gloves. The weather was cold enough to wake me up, but it wasn't snowing like the weatherman said it might. Regardless, it was way too cold to run without gloves, and my hands are dry and chapped now. Neat.
Just around mile 5, I hopped up on a curb and felt a little hitch in my hip. Not that this is a serious injury, but it's an annoying catch that makes me alter my stride a bit. It's the small, nagging injuries that impede progress and are just discouraging for runners training for a marathon.
After I scalded myself in the shower and had to coax Cameron into eating breakfast, I should have realized it just wasn't my day. I should have called in sick to work and had a lazy day at home.
Instead, I prepped the wrong room for a meeting and received a frantic call from my colleague wondering where the projector and laptop were. AND WHY THEY WEREN'T IN THE CONFERENCE ROOM!?!?!?
Maybe it's a good thing that my boss won't even look at me at this point.
Happy running!
