I'll tell on myself immediately...I haven't run yet today. Even though Mondays are cross-train days (which for me means elliptical or biking indoors...yuck), I just couldn't make myself get out of bed this morning. It is Monday after all, and I should be able to squeeze in a quick workout before trivia tonight. I mean, I could just run to trivia. That would count, right?
D.C is in the middle of a big cold snap right now, and I'm not too sure how I feel about it. Don't get me wrong. I love winter, but it's almost April and Opening Day is Thursday - I'm ready for shorts and tank tops. It's about time these legs saw the sun! With a six mile run scheduled for Wednesday morning in freezing temperatures/wintry weather, I doubt I'll be pulling out my short shorts anytime soon. You're in luck, world...no pasty legs yet!
As my Metro train crossed the Potomac this morning, I watched the sun peep above the buildings of D.C. and thought about how lucky I am to be here in Washington. I never thought that I'd be here, of all places, working for the government. In all honesty, I thought I'd be rubbing nickels together working as a sports reporter for a South Carolina newspaper, chasing some jock around looking for a good quote. Not that there aren't days that I wish I did exactly that, but I thank God that I'm here and have this great opportunity. Funny how things work out, huh?
Well, I better get to it. If I don't get coffee or toothpicks to hold my eyelids open soon, my boss will find me facedown on the keyboard snoring. After all, it is Monday.
Happy running!
Just thought I'd mention that you're a real inspiration for me--I'll really have to push myself to stick to the schedule you're keeping. Just getting myself to work out every day will be a challenge, let alone working out at your level. O_o
